Psychotherapy is a way to help people who struggle with behavioural and emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy can help to deal or control unhealthy behaviour that prevents the person from better functioning. Problems can be deal with by psychotherapy include difficulties in coping with daily life; the impact of trauma, grief or loss, mental health problems like stress, depression, anxiety.
There are several types of psychotherapy and some types may work better with certain problems. Two or more psychotherapeutic techniques are combined together for an effective treatment. Psychotherapy may be used in combination with medication.
Therapy may be conducted in a child, individual, family, or group settings. Psychotherapy can be short-term with immediate issues, but long-term with deeply rooted issues. Psychotherapy facilitates positive change in individuals seeking better emotional and social functioning to improve quality of life.
